Farm and Forestry Mapping
FARM
Capture of data from the ground and air combined with the use of GIS software helps in the making of informed farm decisions. Utilising our iDrive system, GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations and/or UAV/Drone platforms, combined with cameras and sensors, we are able to efficiently and cost effectively collect farming data.
Deliverables can include a map showing
- aerial photo underlays,
- legal boundary dimensions,
- paddock areas,
- fence,
- race,
- yards,
- sheds
- irrigation lines and
- trough locations.
Deliverables can be extended to the provision of various electronic files and 3D surface models.
Aerial photos can be combined and processed to produce geo-referenced orthomosaics and elevation models so further analysis can be made for things such as pivot earthworks and irrigation requirements.
Ongoing work can include NDVI analysis to assist farmers to identify issues with plant health and target specific areas with fertiliser and water.
FORESTRY
UAV/Drone platforms, combined with cameras and sensors, can be used for forest mapping to locate vegetation types, streams, tracks and other important features.
LiDAR sensors can penetrate through to the forest floor to help identify slips to be avoided during road construction, tree height and stiffness. Ground surface models can be developed to allow detailed road and hauler pad design. Design can then be uploaded to machine control systems on dozers and excavators so as to mitigate the risk to personnel on the ground.
Film and TV
Infrastructure Surveys were involved with various surveys for the Steven Spielberg produced Dinosaur drama. Data models were provided to John Cox's Creature Workshop for production of scenes through polystyrene milling.
Flood Mapping
Infrastructure Surveys and RSS combined for the world first application of rapid mobile mapping technology to the mapping of habitable floor levels in the township of Emerald, Central Queensland.
Rapid mobile mapping provides fast, high precision data and dynamic imaging for any linear mapping project. This technology supports the pursuit of safety by improving the outcomes and accuracy of desktop studies and reducing the need of onsite visits. Like Google Street View, our 360° views enable users to visualise features as if they were actually there. The added benefit is that the user can measure and extract XYZ data as required thus allowing mapping directly from the user’s computer. This system is an efficient way of ‘walking through’ a site from the safety of the user’s desktop computer and a safe method of visualising hazardous sites.
Gas Pipelines
Infrastructure Surveys managed the survey and GIS component of the largest gas gathering network in Australia and one of the world's most logistically challenging projects. The project area (sq. km.) is equivalent to half of the area of New Zealand's north island. The project entailed the installation of more than 3500km+ of dual and single Ø110mm - Ø630mm HDPE pipeline and installation and tie-in of well heads.
- ROW setout
- Stripped surface survey
- Bending
- Trenching
- Ploughing
- HDD
- Weld surveys
- Rehabilitation survey
- DOC plans
- Signage
- Machine Control/Guidance models
- GIS datasets
Irrigation, Weirs and Dams
Infrastructure Surveys have been involved with the following projects Burdekin Dam (QLD), Peter Faust Dam (Qld), Wivenhoe Dam (Qld), Claude Wharton Weir (Qld)
, Burdekin pipeline, Ayr Irrigation (Qld) and Trangie Nevertire Irrigation (NSW).
Traditional bathymetric survey techniques can be used to determine reservoir depth, volume and areas. Utilising radio control boats with our GPS/GNSS integrated with a survey grade single beamecho sounder we can survey with a high degree of safety.
Water storage, pipelines and irrigation - we are involved with the lot.

Marinas and Groynes
Infrastructure Surveys were involved with Manly Marina (Qld), Ferry Wharf - RORO- and terminal builds (Gladstone Qld) and several boat ramps about the Gladstone region. Our expertise includes:
- hydrographic surveys
- pile setouts
- reclamation
- hardstands
- boat ramps
- machine control/guidance systems.
Boat owners need to be comfortable knowing that their vessels are moored in clean and safe environments. The last thing a boat owner wants is for their site to be filled with silt. Traditional bathymetric survey techniques can be used to determine sea floor levels within the marina. Utilising radio control boats with our GPS/GNSS integrated with a survey grade single beam echo sounder we can survey quietly and with a high degree of safety. From this survey data we can then determine volumes of material to be dredged.

Marine Works and Port Development
Infrastructure Surveys were involved with the construction of Fisherman Island (Brisbane) and the subsequent construction of container, coal and grain handling terminals and the rail line. We were also involved in the development of marine facilities north of Gladstone for the gas facilities on Curtis Island.

- Hardstands
- RORO facilities
- Marine piling
- Ferry terminals.

Mines and Quarries
Infrastructure Surveys have been involved with the following open cut mining projects Ok Tedi (PNG), Lihir (PNG), Senakin and Satui (Indonesia), Mt Owen (NSW), Croydon (Qld) and Mt Leyshon (Qld).
